HSFF is motivated to improve capacity of the local and under privileged students of remote areas of Nepal who want to pursue higher education. HSFF ensures that the entire scholarship amount reaches the grantee. In addition, HSFF does not charge operation costs for management of scholarships and training.
HSFF has established a partnership with Australian Qualifications Institute (AOI) www.aqi.edu.au , Australia to manage the HSFF - Jarrah Young Scholarship program for Nepal. One third of AQI profits are committed to the Jarrah Young Scholarship fund which is further supported through donations.
Our recent scholarship grantee is Miss Rupa Gurung, a resident of Sikles, Kaski, Nepal. The main donors of this scholarship are the Paulls and extended family, the Harris Young family and AQI. Ms. Gesuba Gurung has been granted the teachers’ Jarrah Young Scholarship supported by AQI.
During the selection of candidates for the Thaman Gurung - Matthew Handely Scholarship for 2014-2015 out of eight short listed candidates from the Madi Khola Valley, only the first three candidates were selected. The fourth candidate was Miss Rupa Gurung and she fulfilled the scholarship criteria for Jarrah Young Scholarship 2014/2015 program for Nepal. The scholarship supports living and educational expenses of the grantee.
Further, Ms. Gesuba Gurung, Deputy Head Teacher of Shree Annapurna High School, Sikles, Kaski was selected to study Certificate 1 in Business with AQI - focusing on technology units. The online course will be conducted first time from Australia in the Nepalese mountain village where they have recently set up the Internet.
